Sri Lanka has announced its squad for the upcoming One Day International series against England. The series will consist of three matches. All games will be played in Colombo at the R. Premadasa International Cricket Stadium.
Charith Asalanka has been named captain for the ODI series. He continues to lead the team in the white-ball format. The squad includes a mix of experienced players and younger cricketers who have featured in recent international matches.
Sri Lanka’s batting group includes Pathum Nissanka, Kusal Mendis, Sadeera Samarawickrama, and Kamil Mishara. These players are expected to form the core of the top and middle order. Janith Liyanage and Kamindu Mendis are also included, adding flexibility to the batting lineup.
Several all-rounders have been selected. Dhananjaya de Silva and Dunith Wellalage provide balance with both bat and ball. Wanindu Hasaranga returns as a key figure in the spin department and is expected to play a major role during the series.
The spin attack also features Maheesh Theekshana and Jeffrey Vandersay. These bowlers offer different styles and variations, which are suited to home conditions. Spin is expected to be an important factor across the three matches.
Sri Lanka’s pace bowling options include Asitha Fernando, Pramod Madushan, Milan Rathnayake, and Eshan Malinga. The fast bowlers will support the spin unit and provide options with the new ball and at the death.
The squad selection follows recent ODI performances and fitness assessments. Selectors have largely retained players who have been part of recent international tours. The team management aims to maintain continuity while preparing for future tournaments.
England will tour Sri Lanka as part of their white-ball schedule. The ODI series is part of preparations for upcoming international competitions later in the year. England’s squad includes several regular ODI players and senior figures.
The first ODI is scheduled to be played later this month. The remaining two matches will follow within the same week. All fixtures will take place at the same venue.
Sri Lanka’s squad announcement marks the final stage of preparations ahead of the series. Training sessions and practice matches are expected to take place before the opening game.
