Marsh views Pakistan series as ideal T20 World Cup preparation

Marsh sees Pakistan as perfect preparation for T20 World Cup 2026, according to comments from Australia captain Mitchell Marsh. Australia will tour Pakistan for a three-match T20 International series shortly before the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup begins. The matches are scheduled in Lahore. The series is part of Australia’s final build-up for the global tournament.

Marsh Sees Pakistan as Perfect Preparation Through Match Conditions

Marsh said the Pakistan tour provides valuable match exposure ahead of the World Cup. Australia’s squad has limited preparation time before the first game. Several players featured in the Big Bash League final in Perth. Other players prepared separately in Dubai before joining the team in Pakistan. The team is set to assemble fully close to the opening match.

The three T20Is will be played between 29 January and 1 February 2026. All matches are scheduled at Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore. The series takes place just days before the World Cup opener.

Marsh Sees Pakistan as Perfect Preparation Against Strong Opposition

Marsh highlighted Pakistan’s experience in T20 cricket. Pakistan’s squad includes players such as Babar Azam, Shaheen Shah Afridi, and Shadab Khan. Australia expects competitive matches against an established T20 side. The series is viewed as an opportunity to test combinations under match pressure.

Pakistan captain Salman Ali Agha stated that his team has prepared for the series. Pakistan will use the matches to finalize plans before the World Cup.

Marsh Sees Pakistan as Perfect Preparation Before World Cup Start

The ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 will begin on 7 February 2026. The tournament will be hosted by India and Sri Lanka. Australia and Pakistan will both use the Pakistan series as final preparation. Pakistan has already named its 15-player World Cup squad.

Australia’s tour schedule leaves little recovery time between the final T20I and the start of the tournament. The series is positioned as the last competitive outing before the World Cup campaign begins.
