Jon Rahm on Patrick Reed’s LIV Golf Departure

Jon Rahm

Jon Rahm comments on Patrick Reed LIV exit during the opening week of the LIV Golf season in Saudi Arabia. Rahm addressed the situation while speaking to reporters in Riyadh. He said he wished Reed the best following his decision to leave the league. Rahm explained that every player must choose the path that fits his career goals. He added that he held no negative feelings about Reed’s move.

Patrick Reed confirmed in late January that he would not compete in the 2026 LIV Golf season. Reed joined the league in 2022 after resigning from the PGA Tour. His departure follows the expiration of his existing contract. LIV Golf later stated that a new agreement had not been reached.

Reed’s Plans After Leaving LIV Golf

Reed has said he intends to return to the PGA Tour. He remains suspended due to his earlier departure from the tour. The suspension is scheduled to end in August 2026. Until then, Reed plans to compete on the DP World Tour. He will be eligible to enter PGA Tour events as a non-member once the suspension concludes.

Reed recently won the Hero Dubai Desert Classic on the DP World Tour. The victory came shortly before his LIV exit became public. He has not confirmed which tournaments he will enter next.

Rahm’s Position as LIV Golf Adjusts

Rahm also spoke about the direction of LIV Golf moving forward. He confirmed his commitment to the league for the upcoming season. LIV Golf has introduced format changes, including a move to 72-hole tournaments. Rahm acknowledged the changes and said his focus remains on competition and team performance.

Several high-profile players have recently left LIV Golf. Rahm noted that professional golfers face different circumstances at different stages of their careers. He said those decisions should be respected as the sport continues to evolve.
