Afghanistan Seal Semi-Final Spot at U19 World Cup
Afghanistan secured their semi-final place with a large victory over Ireland. Afghanistan batted first and posted 315 for 7. Faisal Khan scored 163 runs from 142 balls. His innings included 18 fours and one six. Afghanistan’s total proved far beyond Ireland’s reach.
Ireland were bowled out for 124 runs. Afghanistan won the match by 191 runs. The result guaranteed Afghanistan a top-two finish in Super Six Group 1. Australia had already qualified from the same group. Afghanistan advanced as the second semi-finalist from Group 1.
England Seal Semi-Final Spot at U19 World Cup
England also confirmed qualification after defeating New Zealand. New Zealand were dismissed for 169 runs after batting first. England’s bowling attack restricted scoring throughout the innings. Manny Lumsden claimed five wickets for 17 runs.
England responded with 234 for 7. The chase was completed comfortably within the allotted overs. England won by 65 runs. The victory secured England first place qualification from Super Six Group 2. They became the first team from that group to book a semi-final berth.
Remaining Semi-Final Qualification Scenarios
With Afghanistan and England qualified, Australia had already secured a semi-final place earlier. One semi-final spot remained undecided at that stage. India and Pakistan were still in contention depending on their final Super Six match results.
The semi-final matches are scheduled for early February 2026. The tournament is being held across Zimbabwe and Namibia. Sixteen teams are competing in the ICC Under-19 Men’s Cricket World Cup 2026. Afghanistan and England now await confirmation of their semi-final opponents.
