For more than a decade, Canadian freestyle skiing great Mikaël Kingsbury has set the standard in mogul skiing, and he’s set to do it again at the FIS World Cup at Val St. Come, Canada (9–10 January). The three-time Olympic medalist will compete in front of a home crowd as he looks to extend his record-setting 99 World Cup wins, to a historic 100.

In an interview with Olympics.com ahead of the season, Kingsbury shared that reaching 100 World Cup wins is a major goal. “Hundred wins. It’s just one win away,” he said. “As for World Cup and World Championship, I’m very satisfied with what I do. I’m very close to a hundred—I know I’ll get there one day.” And that day is very possibly here.

Kingsbury, was poised to achieve this goal earlier this season at the World Cup opener in Ruka, Finland (12 December 2025), but was forced to withdraw due to an ongoing groin injury sustained during fall training.

In his absence, Japan’s World Champion Horishima Ikuma claimed victory in Ruka. Horishima once again looms as his primary challenger in Canada, setting the stage for another chapter in their ongoing rivalry.

Kingsbury, who swept both World Cup events at Val St. Come in 2025, will have his first shot at the landmark milestone in the single moguls on Friday, with another opportunity in the dual moguls on Saturday. He has said he will assess his health before deciding to compete in the duals.

With his World Cup goal in his sights, Kingsbury has been clear that the number-one goal this winter is Milano Cortina 2026: “My goal right now is to peak at the Olympics,” he told Olympics.com, adding, “I want to win the singles at the Olympics obviously, and the duals.”

The new dad will have extra motivation on home snow in Quebec, with his young son, a newly minted skier himself, cheering him on in the crowd.
