GENEVA, Dec. 29. FIFA reported receipt of more than 150 million ticket requests for the 2026 FIFA World Cup. The total sets a new record for World Cup ticketing activity, even though the Random Selection Draw phase has reached only its midpoint.
Fans from over 200 countries and regions submitted requests through FIFA.com/tickets after the Random Selection Draw phase opened on December 11. The application window remains open until January 13, 2026.
FIFA said ticket demand exceeds supply by more than 30 times, based on verified individual credit card numbers linked to each application. The volume of requests equals 3.4 times the total number of spectators who attended all 964 matches across the 22 World Cup editions held since 1930.
FIFA President Gianni Infantino said the response reflects global interest in the tournament. He said the 2026 World Cup will bring fans together across North America and reinforce football’s global reach through shared participation and large scale attendance.
The 2026 FIFA World Cup opens on June 11, with the final scheduled for July 19. Matches will take place in 16 host cities across Canada, Mexico, and the United States. The tournament features 104 matches and a record field of 48 national teams.
