Dubai’s unique diversity and multicultural fabric make it an ideal global platform for meaningful dialogue on the future of sport, Khalfan Belhoul, Vice Chairman of the Dubai Sports Council, said during the World Sports Summit.
Addressing delegates, Belhoul highlighted that sport remains an evolving global industry with vast potential yet to be fully explored.
“Sport has much more to uncover and much more to understand,” Belhoul said. “The question today is: why Dubai? The answer lies in our diversity. With more than 200 nationalities living in the city, Dubai allows us to listen to different perspectives and engage in impactful, inclusive conversations.”
Belhoul noted that this multicultural environment enables policymakers, athletes, investors, and industry leaders to exchange ideas openly and collaboratively, helping shape solutions to the rapidly changing challenges facing global sport.
He added that Dubai’s role goes beyond hosting major events, positioning the city as a neutral meeting ground where cultures, ideas, and experiences converge — a foundation essential for building sustainable and forward-looking sports ecosystems.
The World Sports Summit, held under the theme “Uniting the World Through Sport,” brings together more than 1,500 international sports leaders and experts, reinforcing Dubai’s ambition to serve as a long-term global hub for sports innovation, governance, and cooperation.
