UAE Minister of Sport Highlights Sports as Critical Tool for Youth Development in Modern Society

Dubai, UAE — In a powerful statement addressing the impact of modern lifestyles on youth development, H.E. Dr. Ahmad Belhoul Al Falasi, UAE Minister of Sport, emphasized the growing importance of sports in a world where human interaction is becoming increasingly limited.

“Human interaction is becoming limited, and therefore sports becomes the only venue where you can truly develop the skillset of a child from a young age.”
– H.E. Dr. Ahmad Belhoul Al Falasi, UAE Minister of Sport

Speaking on the evolution of society from the 1800s to the present day, H.E. Al Falasi pointed out that with every innovation and convenience added to our lives, physical activity and interpersonal engagement have steadily declined.

“From the 1800s till today, every evolution added a layer of comfort, a layer of convenience, a layer of practicality that made all our lives easier. But at the same time, if you map out our lifestyle, it became more sedentary as we went through,” he stated.

In this context, the role of sports in child development becomes more vital than ever. As digital technology, automation, and remote lifestyles reduce daily opportunities for human interaction, sports stand out as a structured and holistic platform where children can develop not only physical fitness but also essential life skills such as teamwork, leadership, resilience, and discipline.

The UAE continues to invest in national initiatives and youth sports programs aimed at promoting an active lifestyle, enhancing community wellbeing, and preparing future generations for both athletic and personal success.
